Federal grant will help weatherize manufactured homes
The New Hampshire Community Loan Fund has been selected among 120 organizations to receive a grant to drive innovation under the U.S. Dept. of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program.
The Community Loan Fund will receive $600,000 to work with New Hampshire’s six community action agencies to increase weatherization in manufactured homes located in resident-owned communities, pilot bulk buying of weatherization materials and work closely with Systems Building Research Alliance to guide best practices of weatherization in manufactured housing.
“The award from the Department of Energy will allow us to work with leaders in many of New Hampshire’s 96 resident-owned communities to build cost-effective weatherization into older manufactured homes. We are fortunate to be able to partner with the Community Action Agencies in this work. Their success in weatherizing homes owned by low-income people statewide made this grant possible,” said Community Loan Fund President Juliana Eades.
“We thank the NH Office of Energy and Planning and Senator Jeanne Shaheen for their support of this project.”
